Get Festive with a DIY Christmas Wreath

Christmas Wreath

A Christmas wreath is a must-have item when it comes to decorating for the holiday season. However, you don’t have to go out to the store and purchase one of these festive items. You can make a beautiful, festive wreath right in the comfort of your home!

Bulb Wreath

Colorful lights are a big part of Christmas decor. So, why not incorporate lights into your DIY wreath?

You’ll need: Colorful Christmas light bulbs (about 65-70), hot glue, and a craft ring

Directions: Take the craft ring and hot glue a layer of lights around it. Then, hot glue a second layer on top of the first layer, placing a top layer light bulb in between two bottom layer light bulbs. Allow the glue to cool and your wreath is ready to hang!

Tinsel Wreath

Tinsel is a pretty inexpensive decorative item. Choose a color that you like and get ready to wrap!

You’ll need: a styrofoam wreath (about 16 inches), tinsel, greening pins

Directions: Take the styrofoam wreath and wrap the tinsel around it. Secure the ends with u-shaped wire greening pins.

Christmas Poinsettia Wreath

Mix plaid with poinsettia for a fashionably festive look this season.

You’ll need: Plaid or gingham ribbon, faux poinsettia, decorative twigs and leaves, floral pins, two pine cones, hot glue gun and glue sticks, scissors/wire trimmers, wreath form

Directions: Wrap the ribbon of your choice around the wreath form. Use a floral fin to secure where the ribbon starts and ends. Once your wreath is completely covered, add the trimmings. (If the ends of the stems are too long, feel free to cut them down so that they fit the wreath.) Place the twigs facing opposite of one another at the top portion of the ribbon. Then, secure with hot glue. Once the twigs and leaves are placed, glue one pine cone on either side, directly on top of the twigs. Afterward, place the poinsettia flower at the top of the wreath (in the center of the twigs) and secure it with hot glue as well.

Repurposed Mirror Wreath

This DIY project is probably the most simple one on the list. Spruce up your home with this decorative holiday piece.

You’ll need: a circular mirror and a long ribbon.

Directions: Remove the glass from the mirror. Be sure that there is no glass left inside, as it can be hazardous to touch. Next, tie the ribbon over the top of the mirror and hang the wreath in your home.
