cycling in a Duathlon

On your marks! Get set! Get healthy! It’s almost time to compete in the 2nd Annual Dirt, Sweat, & Gears Trail Duathlon, and this is a great opportunity to show your commitment to health and fitness while trying to beat the other participants. It’s the perfect combination of healthy living and competition. Get the details so you’ll be ready to go.

The Race

This two-part race takes place on June 24th in Coker, AL. During part one, you will take off on a 10-mile bike ride along some trails. You will need to put your pedals to the metal to beat out the other racers so you will get a head start on the second part of the race.

That’s when your feet will take over. You will race along a 5k trail at Lake Lurleen. You will need to break away from the other runners so that you can take the top prize!

Right now, you might have a little lump in your throat. You are great at biking, but your running isn’t exactly top notch. Or, maybe you have the opposite problem. You’re a terrific runner but you hate riding your bike. Well, here’s some good news for you. While you can go through the race by yourself, you also have the option of working with a partner! You partner can either ride the bike or run, and you can do the other part. By working as a team, you only have to take on what you like to do.

So will it be unfair if you compete by yourself? You might be thinking that you’ll be worn out if you have to do it all alone. Now, it’s time for more good news. Teams compete against other teams and individuals compete against other individuals, so it is all fair!

Why Compete?

There are multiple reasons why you should participate in the 2nd Annual Dirt, Sweat, & Gears Trail Duathlon. If you have kids, this is a great way to introduce them to healthy living. Additionally, your body will benefit from training for and participating in this event. Exercise does more than help you control your weight. It helps to reduce the risk of some forms of cancer, improves your mood, lowers your chance of getting diabetes, and even reduces your chance of getting cardiovascular disease! These are all some great reasons to hop on your bike and get started.

You are probably going to be a bit tired when you complete the race. You’ll be ready to sink behind the wheel of a nice vehicle and head home. That is why a trip to Genesis of Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa, Alabama is in order. Your luxury car will be comfortable and take you everywhere you need to go. It will be perfect immediately after the race and for each adventure that you take in life!
